It's a step...

General Motors and the U.S. Army today announced that, with a little help from Sen. Hillary Clinton, they’ve formed a partnership to put the first fuel cell-powered truck into military service. The truck they’ll be using is a modified Chevrolet Silverado equipped with two 94 kW fuel cell stacks capable of generating 188 kW and 317 foot-pounds of torque, which is about the same amount of torque generated by GM’s 5.3 liter V-8 engine. But the truck won’t be seeing any combat in the near future, they’ll be putting it through some rigorous testing it in different climates and locations around the U.S. between now and July 2006.
